Mohammed, auch bekannt als Muhammad, war der Religionsstifter des Islam. Er wurde in Mekka geboren und gilt im Islam als Prophet und Gesandter Gottes. Mohammed führte eine religiöse und soziale Bewegung an und herrschte über einen Machtbereich, in dem der Islam praktiziert wurde. Die von ihm geführten Kalifen erweiterten die arabische Herrschaft über verschiedene Regionen.

Das genaue Geburtsjahr von Mohammed ist umstritten, aber es wird auf das Jahr 573 geschätzt. Im Laufe seines Lebens hatte er etwa zehn Ehefrauen, darunter Chadidscha und Aischa. Er hatte insgesamt acht Kinder, von denen Fatima die jüngste Tochter war und deren Nachkommen bis ins Erwachsenenalter überlebten.
