Le Corbusier war ein schweizerisch-französischer Architekt, Architekturtheoretiker, Stadtplaner, Maler, Zeichner, Bildhauer und Möbeldesigner.
Le Corbusier war einer der einflussreichsten Architekten des 20. Jahrhunderts, dessen neue Ideen aber auch Kontroversen auslösten und teilweise bis heute umstritten sind. Sein Pseudonym Le Corbusier nahm er in Anlehnung an den Namen seiner Urgroßmutter Lecorbésier und von corbeau erstmals in der Zeitschrift L'Esprit nouveau 1920 an.
