George Villiers, 2. Duke of Buckingham KG war ein englischer Diplomat und Staatsmann ab Mitte des 17. Jahrhunderts. Dieser entstammte dem englischen Familienzweig des ursprünglich französischen Geschlechts De Villiers. Er war Günstling, leitender Minister und der einflussreichste Mann in England unter der Regierung von König Karl II.

Misattributed, Beaumont and Fletcher Philaster, Act III, sc. ii, line 144. These lines are used almost unaltered ("holds" becoming "does hold") in Act III, sc. ii of Buckingham's The Restauration, an adaptation of Philaster.
