Apollonios von Rhodos war ein antiker griechischer Dichter und Gelehrter.

Geboren wurde Apollonios vermutlich in Alexandria. Seine starke Bindung an die Insel Rhodos ist unzweifelhaft; er soll dort gelebt haben und die Bürgerschaft der Stadt Rhodos erlangt haben. In Alexandria war er möglicherweise Schüler des Kallimachos von Kyrene. Zwischen 270 v. Chr. und 245 v. Chr. leitete er die berühmte Bibliothek von Alexandria als Nachfolger des Zenodotos von Ephesos. Wikipedia
