In Silones Werk findet sich davon nichts. In seinem 1932 in Zürich veröffentlichten Aufsatz Was ist Fascismus? zitiert er allerdings eine recht ähnliche Aussage aus einer Rede, die Francesco de Sanctis als Minister für das Unterrichtswesen am 10.
