Hayao Miyazaki ist ein Regisseur von japanischen Zeichentrickfilmen . Daneben ist er noch Zeichner, Grafiker, Drehbuchautor, Produzent und Mangaka. Im Jahr 2003 wurde ihm für seinen Film Chihiros Reise ins Zauberland der Oscar verliehen; seine Filme Das wandelnde Schloss und Wie der Wind sich hebt waren für den Oscar nominiert.
Das von ihm und Isao Takahata 1985 gegründete Studio Ghibli ist weltweit bekannt und Karrieresprungbrett für einige andere Anime-Künstler.
