Walter Frederick „Fritz“ Mondale war ein US-amerikanischer Politiker . Er war von 1977 bis 1981 der 42. Vizepräsident der Vereinigten Staaten.
Zuvor war er von 1960 bis 1964 Attorney General des Staats Minnesota und von 1964 bis 1976 Mitglied des US-Senats. Mondale war 1984 Präsidentschaftskandidat der Demokraten, unterlag bei der Wahl aber Amtsinhaber Ronald Reagan. Von 1986 bis 1993 war er Vorsitzender des National Democratic Institute for International Affairs und von 1993 bis 1996 US-Botschafter in Japan.
