Regina Jonas Zitate

Regina Jonas war die erste Frau weltweit, die zur Rabbinerin ordiniert wurde und in diesem religiösen Amt tätig war. Sie predigte in den 1930er bis 1940er Jahren in mehreren Berliner Synagogen und war auch nach ihrer Deportation nach Terezín , während ihrer Gefangenschaft am dortigen Ort tätig.

Der berufliche Werdegang von Regina Jonas brachte sie in eine Position, die bis dahin ausschließlich jüdischen Männern vorbehalten war. Er sorgte im deutschen Judentum der 1930er Jahre für intensive öffentliche und interne Auseinandersetzungen, die jedoch nur spärliche Spuren hinterlassen haben, bis 1991 war die Rabbinerin Jonas fast vergessen.

Von Regina Jonas selbst existieren nur wenige Texte. Ein sehr fragmentarischer Nachlass wurde Anfang der 1990er Jahre nach der deutschen Wiedervereinigung durch die Forschung einer amerikanischen Wissenschaftlerin zugänglich gemacht.
