Ruhollah Musawi Chomeini war ein iranischer Ajatollah, politischer und religiöser Führer der Islamischen Revolution von 1979 und danach bis zu seinem Tod iranisches Staatsoberhaupt. Mit der Revolution stürzte er aus dem französischen Exil heraus die Regierung von Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, dem damaligen Schah des Iran. Chomeini gilt als der Gründer der Islamischen Republik Iran.
