James „Jimmy“ Riddle Hoffa war ein US-amerikanischer Gewerkschaftsführer mit Verbindungen zur amerikanischen Cosa Nostra. Als Präsident der Teamsters-Gewerkschaft war Hoffa in den USA als „Herr der Lastkraftwagen“ bekannt. Zusammen mit seiner Frau Josephine Hoffa hatte er die Tochter Barbara Ann Crancer und den Sohn James Phillip Hoffa, der 1999 ebenfalls Präsident der Teamsters wurde.
