Eugene Wesley „Gene“ Roddenberry war ein Drehbuchautor, Fernseh- und Filmproduzent und Schöpfer von Star Trek. Die Serien Andromeda und Mission Erde wurden von seiner Witwe Majel Barrett aus seinem Nachlass erschaffen. Roddenberry war ein Anhänger des Humanismus.
