Eric Patrick Clapton, genannt „Slowhand“, CBE , ist ein britischer Blues- und Rock-Gitarrist und -Sänger. Er ist 17-facher Grammygewinner und als einziger Musiker dreifaches Mitglied der Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Er prägte die Entwicklung des Bluesrock seit den 1960er Jahren wesentlich mit und gilt als einer der bedeutendsten Gitarristen. Auf der im Jahr 2011 aktualisierten Liste der 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time der US-amerikanischen Musikzeitschrift Rolling Stone findet sich Clapton auf Platz 2.
