Emmanuel Jean-Michel Frédéric Macron ist seit dem 14. Mai 2017 Staatspräsident von Frankreich.
Der französische Politiker war von 2006 bis 2009 Mitglied der Sozialistischen Partei und von August 2014 bis August 2016 Wirtschaftsminister im Kabinett Valls II unter Staatspräsident François Hollande .
Macron trat mit liberalen Positionen als Kandidat zur Präsidentschaftswahl in Frankreich 2017 mit der von ihm gegründeten Partei En Marche an. In seinem Wahlprogramm schlug er einen Umbau der Sozialsysteme und des Parlaments sowie eine engere Zusammenarbeit innerhalb der Eurozone vor. In die Anfangsphase von Macrons Präsidentschaft fallen mit der Arbeitsmarktreform und der Initiative für Europa zwei über Frankreich hinaus besonders beachtete Reformaktivitäten bzw. -impulse.
