Thomas Warton war ein englischer Dichter und Literaturhistoriker.
Thomas Warton war ein Sohn von Thomas Warton dem Älteren , Professor of Poetry an der University of Oxford. Der Dichter Joseph Warton war sein Bruder.
Thomas Warton erhielt bereits in jungen Jahren Anerkennung als Dichter. Er war Professor of Poetry an der University of Oxford. Er verfasste die für die englische Romantik bedeutende History of English Poetry.
Warton führte Korrespondenzen unter anderem mit Horace Walpole, Thomas Percy und Edmond Malone. Ab 1785 war er Poet Laureate des Vereinigten Königreichs.
