Akshay Kumar ist ein indisch-kanadischer Schauspieler, der in Bollywood arbeitet.

Kumar arbeitete als Kellner in Bangkok, bevor er begann Filme zu drehen. Er lernte Kampfsport in Hongkong und wird daher als der „Bruce Lee von Indien“ angesehen.

Deedar war Akkis eigentlicher Debütfilm. Durch einige Verzögerungen schaffte es allerdings Saugandh als erster auf die Leinwand.

Obwohl die meisten seiner Filme Actionfilme sind, hat er die Rolle des netten Verlobten von Madhuri Dixit in Dil To Pagal Hai gespielt und den Sohn von Amitabh Bachchan in Waqt. Kumar hatte gut publizierte Affären mit beinahe jedem weiblichen Co-Star, mit dem er zusammenarbeitete, bis er schließlich Twinkle Khanna heiratete – mit der er zuvor schon zweimal verlobt war.
