„You don't want to write a big comment that tells others how to make a change they might want to make, because you don't know what change they're going to want to make. Better to have the attitude that you can't help future programmers make their changes. All you can do is make it easy for them to understand what you were trying to do. And it will be easiest for them to understand what you were trying to do if you were very careful to not try to do too much.“
— Ward Cunningham American computer programmer who developed the first wiki 1949
„We need God in ways we do not know. Don't limit your experience of God to what you can think to ask. Ask for the unknown joy.“
— John Piper American writer 1946

„Do the best you can, without straining yourself too much and too continuously, and leave the rest to God.“
— Don Marquis American writer 1878 - 1937
Context: The best good that you can possibly achieve is not good enough if you have to strain yourself all the time to reach it. A thing is only worth doing, and doing again and again, if you can do it rather easily, and get some joy out of it. Do the best you can, without straining yourself too much and too continuously, and leave the rest to God. If you strain yourself too much you'll have to ask God to patch you up. And for all you know, patching you up may take time that it was planned to use some other way. BUT... overstrain yourself now and then. For this reason: The things you create easily and joyously will not continue to come easily and joyously unless you yourself are getting bigger all the time. And when you overstrain yourself you are assisting in the creation of a new self — if you get what we mean.
„And therefore you must know that you can forfeit the grace and help of God by your willful sinning or negligence, though you cannot, without grace, turn to God. If you will not do what you can, it is just with God to deny you that grace by which you might do more.“

A Call to the Unconverted to Turn and Live, Preface.
„I got God on my side.
I'm just trying to survive.
What if what you do to survive
Kills the things you love?
Fear's a powerful thing;
It can turn your heart black you can trust.
It'll take your God filled soul
And fill it with devils and dust“
— Bruce Springsteen American singer and songwriter 1949
"Devils & Dust"
„This is the way how we have to understand the accounts of trials; we must not think that God desires to examine us and to try us in order to know what He did not know before.“
— Maimónides rabbi, physician, philosopher 1135 - 1204
Context: This is the way how we have to understand the accounts of trials; we must not think that God desires to examine us and to try us in order to know what He did not know before. Far is this from Him; He is far above that which ignorant and foolish people imagine concerning Him, in the evil of their thoughts. Note this. Ch.24

„Not, how much of my money will I give to God, but, how much of God’s money will I keep for myself?“
— John Wesley Christian theologian 1703 - 1791
„Deny your desires and you will find what your heart longs for. For how do you know if any desire of yours is according to God?“
— John of the Cross Spanish mystic and Roman Catholic saint 1542 - 1591
„Does it matter in the least to God whether you believe or not? Even the sage Suka Deva was to Him like a big ant at the most. Infinite is He. How much can you understand of Him?“
— Sarada Devi Hindu religious figure, spiritual consort of Ramakrishna 1853 - 1920
„Know the qualities in each one's heart and then serve him. But first, try to know your own heart. Only then can you understand the hearts of others. If you have that understanding, then whatever words you speak and whatever duty you perform will be true duty, God's everlasting duty. If you are in that state, the love you give to each one will be God's complete love. In every situation, perform your duty with this understanding.“
